Position Title:  Senior Process Engineer

This position offers you the opportunity to join a fast paced and energetic company that is at the technical cutting edge of providing the world’s fresh water.  A successful candidate will provide the necessary expertise and skills for the satisfactory process design of water treatment technologies, which are owned and/or used by Magna Imperio Systems.  Key interfaces are with Sales/Proposal, Project Engineering, Product Development and Field Services teams.  This position is based in Houston, TX.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years detailed process design experience.  Industry experience in the selection, design and engineering of the water treatment technologies and material selection will be highly valued.
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering minimum, advanced degree a plus.
  • Good understanding of material requirements, codes and standards applicable to water treatment process equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with chemical separation, liquid-liquid separation, solid-liquid separation is a plus.
  • Experience with process control for batch and continuous processes.
  • Experience working directly with customers.
  • Experience developing process and project economics a plus.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, high volume workplace.
  • Self-motivation, initiative and commitment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • A natural problem solver.
  • Up to 25% travel may be required (domestic and international)

Job Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Perform process design on projects and proposals including, but not limited to material balances, PFD’s, P & ID’s, specification sheets, control philosophy, operating manual, etc.
  • Undertake the role of lead process engineer on larger projects, planning, guiding and checking the work of other engineers.
  • Provides expertise and leadership in establishing process modeling tools and in performing process engineering calculations.
  • Conduct reviews of process plant pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Comply with Quality Assurance & Control procedures and directives.
  • Development of Process Design procedures and directives.
  • Provide relevant services and assistance to other departments as required.
  • Provide technical support to design, construction, commissioning, training and service activities.
  • Assist in the development of existing and identification of new technologies / processes.
  • Work directly with project and controls engineer to design, build, test and deploy new equipment.
  • Become familiar with vendor supplied equipment as required.
  • Assist Sales/Proposals Department in producing cost estimates for certain types of proposals.
  • Attend HAZOP meetings and produce HAZOP responses.
  • Ensure designs are approved by the appointed Process Sponsor.
  • Work on the standardization of designs and control of designs and procedure
  • Attendance at client meetings.
  • Interact with customers to resolve a wide range of complex process engineering issues/problems with limited supervision.
  • Assist in the implementation of training of personnel in the technology.
  • Any other duties deemed reasonable and within the capability of the job holder.

Position Title: Controls Engineer/Electrical Engineer

This position offers you the opportunity to join a fast paced and energetic company that is at the technical cutting edge of providing the world’s fresh water.  As the Controls Engineer, you will report directly to the company’s Engineering Manager and be located at our Houston, TX location.  You will primarily be involved in the design, build, and test of the electrical and I&C systems for product technologies used in water treatment.  At MI Systems we encourage a hands-on approach to engineering whereby you will be on occasion asked to help technicians resolve problems in the shop/field. This will require the willingness to work on a multi-disciplinary team and the drive to push the design process under tight timelines.

A successful candidate will be able to design a system architecture, program the HMI/PLC, and commission packages without direct supervision.

The Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering required, advanced degree a plus.
  • 2-5 years of experience with control system design including PLC programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of components for PLC based controls systems including panel layout, architecture, sizing, relay logic, and communication protocols.
  • Experience with VFDs and PID control loops.
  • Experience with HMIs, SCADA & remote monitoring systems.
  • Experience with variable DC power supplies (100-600 VDC) is a plus.
  • Experience with Automation Direct PLC, Allen-Bradley PLC, and Siemens PLC products.
  • Thorough understanding of NEC.
  • Software programming (C#, Java, Python) experience is a plus.
  • Ability to understand and create P&IDs from scratch.
  • Experience with AutoCad.
  • Experience with water treatment processes a plus, not required.
  • A proven track record of promoting safety.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, high volume workplace.
  • Self-starter mentality, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • A natural problem solver.
  • Up to 25% travel may be required (domestic and international)

The Responsibilities

  • Take projects from very early open-ended state all the way through completion.
  • An ability to breakdown high level problems and take feedback from the team.
  • Mentor junior level engineers.
  • Establish Engineering Standards
  • Source all required instruments and components and creating BOMs.
  • Take a hands-on approach to wiring/assembling.
  • Create proper EE documentation such as: wiring diagrams, interconnects, panel layouts, JB design, PLC design, I/O lists, P&IDs.
  • Take ownership of electrical and controls design.
